Dance Sansaar
Dance Sansaar, meaning “dance world”, is a non-profit organisation based in Birmingham, which was founded by Jagdis Kumar in 2004. The organisations philosophy is to educate, engage and entertain audiences from a diverse background in the vibrant, energetic and enduring traditions of Punjabi Folk Arts. We are a team of dedicated artists who have been performing and teaching various forms of Punjabi Folk Arts for over 20 years. We specialise in Punjabi Folk Dance, which is known as Lawk Naach. This encapsulates several kinds of dance and supporting music and song – it is a fundamental part of Punjabi culture. The dances include Bhangra, Giddha, Jhumar, Luddi, Julli, Daankara, Dhamal, Sammi, Kikli, and Gatka. Since 2004 we have worked with over 150,000 people from all walks of life, at over 1000 schools, community organisations and companies across the UK. Our reputation for delivering enjoyable, memorable and interactive dance workshops, seminars and online resources has made Dance Sansaar the organisation of choice when it comes to Punjabi cultural experiences. We endeavour to increase cultural understanding through the medium of dance and music and visual arts. Our love and passion for Punjabi Folk Arts ensures that our level of commitment and dedication is unrivalled and will endure for years to come… |
